Habitelligence Privacy Policy

Effective date: 10/13/2026

The short version

  • Our assessments, such as the Home Battery Assessment, don't ask for your name, email, phone number, or address.

  • Your answers are used to build your report and, combined with everyone else's, for our research.

  • If you tap a partner's button at the end of a partner version, your results go with you to that partner's website. Your name and contact details never do, unless you choose to enter them there.

  • We don't sell personal information.

Who we are

Habitelligence is an independent research firm that studies how homeowners adopt home energy technology, such as solar, home batteries, and heat pumps. This policy covers our website, habitelligence.com, and the assessments we offer, such as the Home Battery Assessment (together, "the assessments"), including versions offered with a partner. Questions go to privacy@habitelligence.com.

Our assessments

What we collect

  • Your answers to the assessment questions.

  • Your ZIP code and state, which we use to show programs and information relevant to where you live and, over time, to compare your answers with other homeowners in your area.

  • Details about how an assessment was taken: how long it took, whether it was a first or repeat attempt, which version of the page you used, and a reference code that appears on your report.

  • Whether you saved your report or tapped its main button.

  • If you arrived from an ad or a partner's link, the tags in that link (for example, which ad campaign) and which partner's version you used.

  • On partner preview versions, the access code you entered.

We don't ask for your name, email, phone number, or street address, and you don't need an account. Our assessments don't set cookies. On partner preview versions, your browser remembers your access code until you close the tab, so you aren't asked for it twice.

Our hosting provider processes your device's IP address to deliver the page and protect it from abuse. We don't store your IP address with your answers.

How we use it

  • To calculate and show your report.

  • For research. We study answers in aggregate to understand how homeowners think about home energy technology, and we may publish findings. Published findings never identify an individual.

  • Over time, to compare homeowners by area. When we do, we only show results for areas with enough responses that no individual household can be identified.

  • To improve our assessments, for example by seeing where people stop.

  • To tell partners, in summary form, how their version of an assessment is being used.

Partner versions

Some versions of our assessments are offered with a partner, such as an installer, a manufacturer, or a company with a network of installers. The partner's name and logo appear on those versions. Habitelligence writes the questions and calculates the results. Partners don't change how results are calculated.

At the end of a partner version, a button can take you to the partner's website. If you tap it, your results are included in the link so the partner can see them. For the Home Battery Assessment, this includes your energy mindset, your battery readiness, what's adding pressure, your state and ZIP code, your solar and electric vehicle answers, your top priorities, and your report's reference code. No name or contact details are included.

What you enter on the partner's website, such as your name or email, is collected by the partner, and the partner's privacy policy applies to it. If you don't tap the partner's button, the partner doesn't receive your individual results from us.

Other links

Versions without a partner may link to state or utility programs, or to a national database of energy incentives. Those links don't include your answers.

Our website

The Partnership Request form

If you use the form on our Partner page, we collect what you enter: your first and last name, work email, company or organization, area of interest, and project description. We use it to reply to you and to discuss working together. Submissions are delivered to us by email and stored by our website provider, Squarespace. We won't add you to a mailing list without your permission.

Emails you send us

If you email us, we keep your message and contact details to reply and for our business records.

Website usage

Our website runs on Squarespace. Like most websites, it collects standard information about visits, such as the pages viewed, browser and device type, the site you came from, and approximate location based on your IP address. Squarespace uses cookies for this and to make the site work. We see this information only as summary statistics. Squarespace's practices are described in its privacy policy at squarespace.com/privacy.

Service providers

We use a small number of companies to run our assessments and the website. They handle data only on our behalf:

  • Cloudflare hosts our assessments and stores their responses.

  • Google stores a copy of assessment responses in a spreadsheet and provides our email.

  • Squarespace hosts our website and its form.

When we share information

We don't sell or rent personal information. We share information only:

  • with the service providers listed above,

  • with a partner, when you tap that partner's button as described above,

  • as research findings and summary statistics that don't identify anyone, and

  • when the law requires it, or to protect our rights or someone's safety.

How long we keep it

Assessment responses don't include names or contact details. We keep them for as long as they are useful for research. We keep form submissions and emails for as long as we need them for the conversation and for our business records.

Your choices

  • Delete your assessment answers: email privacy@habitelligence.com with the reference code from your report (on the Home Battery Assessment, it starts with HB-), and we'll delete them.

  • Your form submissions and emails: you can ask us to show you, correct, or delete the information you sent.

  • Depending on where you live, you may have other privacy rights. Email us and we'll respond.

Security

We use reasonable measures to protect the information we keep, including limiting who can access it. No method of storing or sending information is completely secure.

Children

Our assessments and website are meant for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you think a child has given us information, email us and we'll delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll post the new version here and update the effective date. If a change matters to how we use information you've already given us, we'll say so on this page.
